FAQ
You don’t need to have a finished assignment in hand, just an idea, a feeling, or even just a sketch on a napkin. During the initial call or face-to-face meeting, we will go over your brand, intentions, and visual inspiration. We will propose a concept, recommend suitable talent, and set up a clear production plan. We will guide you through the entire process from the initial proposal to the finished product, whether it be an illustration, animation, or entire visual identity.
Each mural is unique, which is why we approach each one individually according to its location, context, and assignment. Once I have an approved design, purchased paints, and rented platform, we move on to the site itself. If necessary, we use a projector to transfer the basic shapes so that we can check the composition and scale. Then we draw, paint, spray, and layer colors and moods. Our core team consists of several experienced illustrators who have years of experience with large-format painting. But we also have a lot of friends and colleagues, so even if we’re not sure about something, we can still get it done 100%. We enjoy being outdoors, getting covered in paint, turning blank surfaces into paintings, and contributing in some way to the cultivation of public space.
We bring visual content to events that happens live and right before the eyes of visitors. Whether it’s sketchnoting, portraiture, illustration exhibitions, or creative workshops, we always bring artistic elements to the event that enliven, record, or complement it. Sketchnoting is a live visual recording technique and currently our most sought-after event service. An illustrator draws the content of a lecture or discussion in real time. The output can be digital or analog and works great for both the audience and the presenter.
For us, production means more than just placing an order and waiting for images. The Drawčí production crew monitors quality, scheduling, and communication. As needed, we combine digital or analog illustration with animation, 3D, or even web design. We know how to combine styles, deal with unexpected situations, and come up with creative solutions.
Smaller outputs such as storyboards, sketches, or key visuals are priced per hour or per piece in our price list, and the prices are the same for all clients. For larger or more complex projects (e.g., murals, campaigns, visual identities), we calculate the price individually based on the scope, complexity, and, of course, the client’s budget. We always try to set the budget so that it is fair for both parties.
You may have a specific favorite among our talents, whom we will contact directly, check their availability, and smoothly guide you through the entire production process. More often, however, clients come to us with a mood, style, or assignment, and we recommend the most suitable talents or even put together a combined team across media or illustrators. Finding the right style is our specialty.
The easiest way is to describe what you want to express with the illustration. How should it come across, what is the target audience, or what visual styles do you like? Based on a mood board, brief, or just a loose description, we will recommend suitable illustrators from our stable and feel free to suggest multiple style directions. If you are unsure, we will prepare a first round of sketches from which you can choose your favorite. If the project requires combining multiple artistic techniques, we will put together a team to ensure that the whole project is visually and functionally cohesive.
Copyright always belongs to the author, but clients purchase rights from us for specific uses, such as advertising campaigns, packaging design, OOH, merchandise, or other uses. We will go through everything with you and suggest the ideal scope of the license so that you don’t pay for anything you don’t need. At drawETC., we also represent illustrators legally, so the contract is handled directly with us, without confusion, clearly and fairly. And if you want to delve deeper into licensing, our principal Vladimír Strejček can train you, as he also teaches about illustrators’ rights at universities.
